The Fast Boats Overview

The sea route between Bali, Nusa Penida/Nusa Lembongan, Gili Trawangan/Gili Meno/Gili Air, and Lombok is one of the most popular routes in Indonesia for tourists. Fast ferries are the preferred choice for inter-island travel, offering significantly shorter travel times than regular ferries.

Popular Routes:

Bali to Nusa Penida/Nusa Lembongan:
This route is very busy, especially from Sanur Port in Bali. The journey is relatively short, around 30-45 minutes.

From Padang Bai (Bali) :
This is the most common departure point for routes to the Gili Islands and Lombok. Travel time is usually around 1.5 to 2 hours.

From Serangan (Bali) :
Several operators also serve this route, but travel time can be longer (around 3-4 hours) due to the greater distance and possible transit in Nusa Penida.

Nusa Penida/Nusa Lembongan to Gili Trawangan/Gili Meno/Gili Air and Lombok :
Several operators also offer connecting routes from Nusa Penida to the Gili Islands/Lombok, allowing travelers to do some island hopping more easily.

Book tickets early :
Especially during the holiday season, fast boat tickets can run out quickly.

Check weather conditions :
Departure schedules can change or be canceled due to bad weather conditions and big waves.

Prepare practical luggage :
Bring enough stuff and don't forget equipment such as sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, drinking water, and anti-nausea medication if needed.

Shuttle service :
Some of fast ferry operators offer shuttle service to/from hotels in certain areas of Bali for an additional fee.

Port tax :
